A Guide to the Best Vancouver Vacation Attractions

Vancouver is a great place for vacations, romantic getaways, or as a base for exploring southwestern B.C. Let me tell you some more about our hometown.

One of the most unique aspects about Vancouver is its location. The wilderness is only a hour drive away from downtown!

Getting close to nature is very easy here. The hiking, sailing, skiing and golfing opportunities are just awesome and are available most of the year. You can travel to Whistler quite easily (1.5 hr drive from the city), and the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island is a short 30 km trip to the south.

When is the best time to plan your Vancouver vacation? Anytime between April and the end of September will give you a decent chance for some nice weather. We get the most rain and low clouds between November and February.

Here’s a brief look at some of the top Vancouver attractions:

Stanley Park: One of the jewels of Vancouver. An incredible 405 hectare park right beside the city center! Trails through the forest, excellent views of the city and north shore mountains, historic totem poles, and the Vancouver Aquarium are just a few reasons why this should be one of the first stops on your Vancouver vacation.

Robson Street: The main shopping artery in the city. Shops, restaurants, and hotels line each side of the street, which gets pretty busy from June to October. If you like Starbucks and love to people watch, there are 2 of them across from each other on the corner of Robson and Thurlow streets.

Canada Place: Originally built for Expo 86, Canada Place, which includes the convention center and Pan Pacific Hotel, is a signature building on the Vancouver waterfront, vaguely familiar to the Opera House in Sydney. A walk around the perimeter shows off the North Shore Mountains, the harbor and any cruise ships that are docked during the summer season. If you’re in the mood for a film of some type, the IMAX Theater at the north end has interesting films on a giant five story high screen with surround sound.

Granville Island: Just a great place to spend an afternoon or early evening. Wander through the shops, check out the Public Market, sip an espresso and watch the buskers, or stop by the Granville Island Brewery and sample the latest pale ale! You can also catch the “sea taxi”, a small little craft that shuttles you around False Creek to different places like Science World and across the water to the downtown side.

Capilano Suspension Bridge: It’s over 200 feet down! A rope-and-plank swinging bridge over the rushing waters of the Capilano River - scary, but totally safe. Numbers of visitors wise, this is the biggest draw in the city, and the admission price has gotten a little steeper too. Try mornings or early evening for the fewest crowds.

10 Stress Free Tips to Pamper Mom This Mothers Day

Mothers Day is the day we set aside each year to show appreciation to our own mother and to the mothers in our lives that we love. Traditionally Mothers Day is the big “Flowers and Chocolate” day. While most moms do enjoy lovely flowers and chocolate, below are some ways that we can pamper mom with gifts and activities that she will remember for years to come.

1. Give Her a Massage

Treat mom to a relaxing massage. Besides just feeling good massage offers many benefits to your body such as reducing stress and anxiety, improves circulation, relieves general body tension and muscle stiffness, improves muscle tone, removes toxins from the muscles, improves flexibility in muscles and joints, improves the immune system, promotes healthy skin and much more.

2. Spa Gift Basket

Mom will love a gift basket filled with an assortment of stress relieving goodies to pamper herself on Mothers Day or anytime she needs to relax. Some ideas of what you can include in her Spa Basket are scented bath gel, bath salts, body lotions, candles, eye pillow, bath pillow and bath brush.

3. Journal/Scrapbook

Moms love to record special events, especially those events that include special moments with their children. A journal is a great affordable gift where she can record her special thoughts and memories. You can take it a step further by giving her a scrapbook where she can also add pictures, fun borders, scrapbook embellishments and more to her written thoughts. This gift can last forever!

4. Candles

Scented Candles are a really affordable and practical gift that any mom will love. Candles provide a relaxing mood and can help her to de-stress by providing memories of special events. A baby scented candle can remind her of when she first held you. A peppermint scented candle can bring back memories of Christmas you spent together. Candles come in many shapes, sizes and scents so you are sure to find one to remind mom of a special time you both shared together. Once you find a scent mom likes add a little note to the gift card of what special time you spent together the scent you chose represents.

5. Facial

Moms love to be pampered and a facial is a wonderful relaxing way to do it. You can treat her to a spa for a facial by a licensed practitioner or you can give her a facial gift basket filled with skin care products according to her skin type for her to do at home at her leisure.

6. Clean House

Treat mom to a “Clean House Day” where you clean her house from top to bottom while she spends her day relaxing and enjoying herself doing whatever it is she likes to do.

7. Mommy and Me Day

Mommy and Me days are not just for mom and little ones anymore. You and mom can spend the day doing whatever is relaxing and enjoyable to you both. Having lunch or dinner together, watching a movie, going to the spa for massages and facials together, whatever she would like to do. The point is to give her the gift of knowing that you love her and enjoy spending quality time with her.

8. Send Her on a Date

Sometimes mom just needs a little time to get away from the everyday chores in life like cooking and cleaning the house. Send her on a date with dad to their favorite restaurant.

9. Yoga

Give the gift of good health to your mom this Mothers Day with a membership to a Yoga class. Yoga is great for relaxation and flexibility as well as being a fun way to get fit and stay fit.

10. Give Her a Hug and Tell Her That You Love Her

This tip is sometimes the most overlooked! We all love our moms but sometimes as we get older and get busy with our own lives we take mom for granted and forget the gift that is most important to her- US! Spend quality time with mom. Give her a big hug and tell her that you love and appreciate her. It’s a free gift and one that mom will love most off all.

A Mother’s Day Prayer! Mamma Whispered Softly!

Patty Lovelace Country Music

Verse #1
Through the back window of a 59 wagon
I watched my best friend Jannie slippin away
I kept on waving, til I couldn’t see her
And through my tears I asked again
Why we couldn’t stay

Chorus
Mamma whispered softly, time will ease your pain
Life’s about changing nothing stays the same
And she said, how can I help you say goodbye?
It’s ok to hurt and it’s ok to cry
Come let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you say goodbye?

Verse #2
I sit on our bed, he packed his suitcase
I held a picture of our wedding day
His hands were trembling, we both were crying
He kissed me gently and he quickly walked away

Chorus
I called up mamma she said time will ease your
pain
Life’s about changing nothing stays the same
She said, how can I help you say goodbye?
It’s ok to hurt its ok to cry
Come let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you say good-bye?

Verse #3
Sittin with Mamma alone in her bedroom
She opened her eyes and then squeezed my hand
She said, I have to go now, my time is over
And with her final words she tried to help me
understand

Chorus
Mamma whispered softly, time will ease your pain
Life’s about changing nothing stays the same
And she said, how can I help you say goodbye?
It’s ok to hurt; it’s ok to cry
Come let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you say goodbye?

Today we are recognizing Mother’s Day. Let us
remind ourselves that nothing can be more
strengthening than a mother’s love for her
child. And no love could be greater than Mary’s love for her
son, Jesus.

I often wonder what was Mary thinking
when she watched her son being crucified that day
upon the cross? Was she thinking of the times
Jesus was a child and his feelings were hurt each
time they move from city to city?

What about thetime when one of Jesus’ closest friends betrayed
him and he had to walk away from the relationship.
She was there with a hug of support? Or maybe
she was thinking of the time when Jesus couldn’t
understand why death had to come in life? Each
time she was there to offer him strength of a
shoulder, the love of an unconditional heart, and a
word of comfort.

But, what was Jesus thinking as he hung there on
the cross looking down at his weeping mother?
Thank you mamma for the kisses when I fell and
hurt myself on the gravel in the driveway.

Thank you mamma for helping me understand that loving
and losing is better than not loving at all.

And thank you mamma for being here when death is so
hard to face. I have to think in some place down
deep in Jesus’ heart through all the pain and
suffering his body was going through at the time
physically while he looked down and realized his
mother was there he remembered;

Mamma whispered softly, time will ease your pain
Life’s about changing nothing stays the same
And she said, how can I help you say goodbye?
It’s ok to hurt; it’s ok to cry
Come let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you say goodbye?

Back then as it is today, mammas give us strength,
love and many times understanding when we need it
the most. Let us today and everyday remembert
that if it wasn’t for our mothers, changes in
life, hurts on the play grounds, and tears from
our hearts may be just too unbearable for us to
take. Thank you mamma for loving us, but most of all
thank you for being there at the foot of the cross
and loving Jesus Christ.

Bizarre travel guide

Carrying a travel bag and looking around the places of historical and sculptural importance. Is that what you conceive as a holiday? If yes you haven’t seen or heard enough. The traveling experience can be more than rewarding if the choice of the places to visit is bizarre. And more so going to those untouched places can be one hell-of an experience. May be it is going in to the wilderness of the Amazon or the endless Kalahari, the fun never ends. Some places definitely provide more then you can ask for.

For those who have seen all the obvious and usual places to visit these can be the fun trips. Hunting vampires in Transylvania or getting close to the sharks at the sea, every thing that you never thought about makes the trips one to remember. The popularity of these goes to the extreme thinking of the tourists and the efforts of the tour organizers. The trips include many out of the world experiences. One of them is the storm chase. It’s like trying to cut through the storm risking all you have for the thrill of the lifetime.

Many may think it unusual but many people consider hunting for Unidentified Flying Objects as there idea of an adventure trip. People cite the UFO’s and then the most common places to find them are prepared for the tourist and wait for them to return. This also comes, sometimes with unusual alien citing which add the extra thrill to the adventure. The much known area 51 is on the list of such enthusiasts and they claim to have made visits. Museums and memorials dedicated to the alien s and their things are there at many places across the United States.

The scientific advancements are giving hope to the concept of H. G. Wells regarding time travel. The tourists definitely would like to venture into some adventure, which can take them to the past. This seems a bit too complicated but this is fast becoming the most sought after concept and people are willing to pay for the same. There are risks attached to it and there seems to be a lot of time that remains before this thing to get materialized; yet the craving is never-ending.

Another adventure that the people have been indulging into for years is the treasure hunts. In the pursuit of hidden treasures many people venture in to the deepest of seas and the innermost of the forests looking for them. Even the mystery of the Bermuda triangle is also intriguing and the tourists don’t want to miss a chance to go there. Well, to do that one has to make a trip and go because no tour operator will take the risk.

Then the latest in bizarre adventure list is the concept of space travel. With the theories regarding possibilities of life on other planets people are willing to go to outer space for the trips of there life time. This is one of the possible traveling ideas because it has been experimented and people have actually been to space for a trip. The space tourism seems to be the nest thing in traveling brochures.

So say goodbye to the customized tours and pack your bags for some bizarre traveling experiences.

Your Guide to Repair Bad Credit

Bad credit can be detrimental to your financial position, in that it gives you an adverse reputation; it can also, at times, be a hindrace for you if you purchase on credit or apply for a loan. A low credit rating also results in a high fee being levied, thus extending the overall debt.
In such cases, people usually resort to credit repair services, and mostly end up paying high service charges to settle bad credit. There are different ways to fix bad credit; and they happen to be easy as well as free.

To begin with, find out the exact cause of your bad credit. It is not possible to repair bad credit unless you’re completely knowledgeable of the reason you got into it. A few likely causes for this situation could be a deferred payment of a loan; maybe some unexpected events such as medical bills, job difficulties, etc.

Once you’ve established the core cause to your problem, work your way towards the centre and focus on a solution that’s practical and efficient. Get an idea of your existing financial status by checking your recent credit reports. Make sure you’re keeping track of existing credits and transactions. Use the recent statements from your creditors or yearly credit reports to assess your financial position.

To actually fix your bad credit and get your financial position back in a sound standing, you need to start supervising your expenses and workout your lifestyle. Don’t delay paying your expenses. If you can, pay them as soon as they arrive. This will avoid held up payment charges, if in case an sudden problem comes up and hinders you from paying your expenses on time. Level down your credit card usage as much as you can. To some, this might feel laughable, but if you look back, you’ll realize that the ancient people lived a better life than we do right now, and they did not utilize credit cards. Consistency in bill payments is the crucial point here. Slowly pay up all your credit bills and you’ll eventually repair your financial status.

People often suggest that you discuss with your creditors. If you pull the right strings and bargain wisely, you could end up with discounts, instead of surcharges. Be positive and conservative. While negotiating with your creditors is not a surefire way of improving bad credit, it surely can be effective.

Prevention is the best strategy. Instead of having to experience bad credit, why not prevent it in the first place? Pay your bills on time, do not put off credit payments, and don’t use your credit card for each and every payment. However, if you do fall into a bad credit position, then abide by the tips above. Bad credit can at times damage your social profile and prevent access to loans on convenient terms, mortgages, etc.

Town Homes for ALL Your Pleasure in Orlando, Florida!

Have you ever done something spontaneous? Are you in love with warm weather? Do you have young kids who are dying to be near Walt Disney World? Do you love the beach? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be interested in town homes for sale all over Orlando, Florida.

This can be your town home that you live in all year round. Where your kids will grow up, maybe where you’ll spend the first few years as newlyweds, or where you’ll retire and ask the family to come visit.

Or this could be your winter home where you come and crash to get away from the freezing Northern winters. Whatever you decide, the town homes for sale in the Central Florida area are simply waiting for you to come and have a look at what they have to offer!

Why you should look in town homes for sale in the Orlando, Kissimmee, and Davenport, Florida areas:

1. It’s close to Disney - If you and your family want to be close to anything, it’s Walt Disney World. As Florida residents you will not only get a cheap discount and deal on your tickets into the theme parks of Disneyworld, Universal, and Sea World, but you will also be able to go any time you want. There are also year-round passes for Florida residents that make the daily price of these attractions seem like quite an amount of money. But not only will it be cheaper, you will be so much closer to the theme parks when you live in Central Florida - Orlando, Kissimmee, or Davenport.

2. It’s homey - When most people think of Orlando, Florida of course they think of Disney World and too many tourists. But it’s not the case, that’s just the only thing you see when you are down here being a tourist with everyone else. Central Florida has many hidden treasures that not many tourists know about. Once you are off the main Disney roadway, you enter into a place of tropics and friendly Florida natives. Most Floridians don’t leave after they have grown up here because they enjoy it so much.

3. It’s an escape - If you don’t want to move to the central Florida area all year, then consider what it would be like to have a luxury town home to come down to anytime you wanted. A town house is better than a resort or time share because it’s actually yours! If you need to get away from the daily grind, if you want to have a special, last minute weekend with the boys or your girlfriends, a town home in Orlando, Davenport, or Kissimmee, Florida is perfect for you. Give yourself a treat! Not only will it be relaxing, but Orlando has so much to do other than theme parks, you will be blown out of your mind! There are tons of nightspots downtown and with Disney and Universal; there are comedy clubs, local theatres, dance clubs, the Orlando Magic basketball games, and tons of shopping including outlet malls.

4. It’s warm - Many people move to Florida because of the whether. The heat is good for your skin, your health and its not as hard on your body as the brittle cold can be during the winter months in the North. Though it does get cold in the winter for a few months of December, January, and February, it is not near the kind of cold that is felt up north. This allows Floridians to still have a winter, but not have a long one or one that is too drastic. The warm months last so much longer and most of the year in the spring and fall, the whether is beautiful, healthy, and relaxing.

Check out town reality:

1. Internet - Search your Internet from the convenience of your home or a library and see what town reality in the Orlando, Florida area looks appealing to you. Don’t be afraid to write down many of the agencies and then contact them by phone or email and ask them about their town homes, what they have to offer, and what is on the market.

2. Orlando Visitor’s Bureau - Call these people who know the answers to almost any question that you could think of. They will know some of the best real estate agencies in the Central Florida area and can point you to where and how you should get in contact with them. You only need to call the Visitor’s Bureau or look them up on the Internet and they will help you out. They might even be able to tell you which part of Orlando is the fastest growing, which area has the best schools, or which area has your price range.

3. Subscribe to the Orlando Sentinel - The local newspaper is always one of the best places to find good real estate and good town reality. Don’t be afraid to subscribe even if you live out of state. You never know the discounts, specials, best prices, and lowest prices that you may find in the real estate pages. Not only that, but the Orlando Sentinel will give you a feel for the Orlando area and its suburbs. You will learn the type of town homes that are available and even built in a price range that you can afford.

4. Come see for yourself - Don’t be afraid to come down, make reservations, and visit for a week or two to see if you like it. You can rent a town home similar to the one you may want to buy and see how it works for you and your family. You could also use the time to check out other areas of Orlando, Kissimmee, and Davenport and see what else is out thee in terms of houses and town homes. This will allow you to have a vacation and holiday that works as a research trip all in one!

What to look for when looking to move to Florida in a towne home:

1. School district - Make sure you ask around about the schools in the area where you are looking and that you have the best school possible. Most will be fine, but it is important for you and your family to have the best education available.

2. Check out the commute - Many times it is worth a little drive into the city to not have to live in the traffic and busyness of a city. In that case, your commute to work might be a little bit longer, but be worth the ride for the non-touristy town and neighborhood in which you can live. But make sure before you buy a towne home that you check on this and talk with your family.

3. Make sure to do inspections - Before buying anything, whether it is a towne home or a house in Orlando or anywhere else, be sure to have the necessary inspections done before you close on your house. If you do not and there are termites, water leaks, or anything else, then you are stuck with the bill. If you do it beforehand, it should not be your responsibility.

Moving to Florida and the Orlando area might seem like a big step, but it is one that you will not regret. With so many towne homes available for you to buy that are perfect for families, newlyweds, or retirees you seriously have nothing to lose. Call, search the Internet, or just come for a visit and see what you’re missing out on! Booking your lodging accommodations will not be that hard, book today and come visit or even move to Central Florida!

Staying Safe During the Holidays

Christmas time is a wonderful time of year for most people, a time of giving, goodwill, fellowship and joy. For others, it is an opportunity to prey upon the unsuspecting. During the holidays, more people are out shopping for gifts and carrying more money and merchandise than usual. Criminals are well aware of this fact, and the Christmas season is often a bonanza of opportunity for the determined thief or mugger. But you don’t have to make it easy for them!

Fortunately, there are many things you can do to make yourself a less desirable “target”, and reduce the possibility that you will be a victim of such unscrupulous characters. Common sense and “situational awareness” are two of your most powerful weapons against holiday crime. This article provides a collection of tips that you can apply to ensure that you and your loved ones have the kind of holiday season that you deserve.

Even though you may be rushing around and thinking about a thousand things, be alert to your surroundings at all times, as well as the people around you. If possible, always try to park your car in an area of high traffic. Always lock your car and close the windows, even if you are gone for only a few minutes. Try not to leave loose change or objects of value where they can easily be seen through car windows. Criminals and desperate people will break your windows to acquire items of even the seemingly smallest value. Cell phones are highly desirable items - they can be sold and re-programmed easily, and these items are often left visible connected to chargers. Place valuables in your trunk BEFORE you get to your destination, not after. A typical thief lurking in a parking lot looking for opportunity may be watching you.

Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Pay for purchase with a check or credit card when possible, and if the credit card receipt has carbons, ask for these too. If you must carry cash, keep it in your front pocket. Be extra careful with purses and wallets - they may become targets for crime in crowded shopping areas, bus stops, and public transportation areas. Avoid overloading yourself with packages when shopping. It is important to have clear visibility and freedom of movement - you may need to be able to react quickly.

Shop during daylight hours whenever possible, but if you must shop at night, make sure you have someone with you. Dress casually and comfortably, and avoid wearing expensive jewelry. Be wary of any strangers approaching you for any reason. At this time of year, con-artists will try all kinds of ways to distract you with the intention of taking your money or belongings.

At home, make sure you always lock the doors and windows when you leave the house, even for a few minutes. Leave lights and a radio or television on so the house looks occupied. Do not put large displays of holiday gifts where they can be seen through windows - this is an invitation for a break-in.

Many people have chosen to further ensure their safety and security by acquiring non-lethal personal protection devices, such as stun guns, pepper spray, or personal alarms. One highly reliable company that provides very high quality personal protection devices is 1st Defense Products. This company also provides a free e-book called “The Essential Handbook of Personal Safety and Security” with any purchase, which includes these tips and many more. You can visit their website at www.1stdefenseproducts.com or contact them by email at info@1stdefenseproducts.com.

Finally, remember to be a good friend and neighbor; share these tips with others in your family and neighborhood. You might even want to get your neighborhood together to go caroling, or perhaps go visit the elderly who might be especially lonely this holiday season. This may even be the beginning of a “neighborhood watch” group. After all, people helping people - that is what it’s all about isn’t it?

Jonathan Merritt has over 20 years of experience in the security industry, and has written numerous articles on personal, family and home security. His company web site provides links to several government and community-based security information sites, as well as a complete line of personal protection products. For more information, visit 1stDefenseproducts.com or email info@1stdefenseproducts.com.

You Can Cook Healthy Italian Food

For many people, Italian food is the ultimate comfort food. However, it is sometimes not so good for your waistline. Cream sauces, bread, and huge amounts of pasta are not exactly low-fat fare. Italian food is not usually something people want to completely give up. But believe it or not, you can master the art of healthy Italian cooking.

The first essential for healthy Italian cooking is whole wheat pasta. It tastes even better than enriched pasta, and it contains a lot of fiber, which most people don’t get enough of. You can find whole wheat pasta in all varieties, and it is just as cheap as enriched pasta.

Your next step is to stick with tomato based sauces. Cream sauces have way too much fat and calories. It is unnecessary to add so much unhealthy fat to your dishes, tomato sauces are so much more flavorful and contain vitamins and minerals.

For many people, garlic bread in some form is important when eating Italian food. You can eat bread in small quantities. One of the best ways to make sure that bread does not derail your diet plans it to prepare or purchase whole grain bread. In fact, when you eat bread that contains whole grains, you are doing something very healthy. Just make sure you don’t use a lot of butter on the bread. Olive oil is a staple in healthy Italian cooking; dip your bread in a little bit of it.

As you can see, healthy Italian cooking is easy. Using whole wheat pasta, whole grain bread, and tomato based sauces allows you to eat your favorite comfort food while maintaining your health and figure. So feel free to prepare your favorite Italian food today!

Double Bed Frames? WHich One to Buy?

If you’ve decided you need a new bed then you should be aware that there are litterly hundreds of options available to you. Hope fully after reading this you will have a better idea of what will suit your needs, and hopefully you will find the perfect double bed frame that is comfortable, affordable and stylish. .The most basic kind of double bed frame that you can buy today is the metal frame. This is made out of long pieces of metal that lie under the box springs and give support to the mattress. The metal bed stand isn’t very noticeable at all, so it is a good option for people who are looking for an inexpensive frame or those who don’t want one which may overpower their decor. A second, simple type of double bed frame is the platform bed frame. This is a bit unusual as often it does not require a box spring. Basically, the frame itself serves as both a frame and a box spring. It is usually a large, box-like wood platform that may be topped by wooden slats. You simply pop your mattress on top of the frame.

if you look at any sort of old furniture you will notice they are very bulky and can be overdone with decoration. Well, the difference today is that the modern bed can range from being small to being really bulky.

Since the modern bed is made to fit with your modern room, which may come on varying sizes and designs, it is also of course necessary that the sizes of the modern bed vary. The great thing about all this choice is that there is a greaty variety of sizes to choose from. Of course there are slight differences from designer to designer, but they do usually adhere to common sizes, and you can usually tell from the name which size the bed is going to be. There are actually quite confusing names, like the “Twin Size Bed,” for example, one might think that since it is a “twin-size”, then it is for two persons, but a Twin Size is usually for single person only (who are usually small children), and its other common name is actually “Single Size Bed.” But then again, these are just the common sizes (and names), your local furniture shop can come up with its own custom size (or of course, you can make them manufacture your own custom size), or these very sizes can vary from shop to shop (although not that much of course) but these are the standard sizes (or names for them, at least).
